Preview: Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP Rams vs. Waterford Wildcats
The Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP Rams are on the road again on Friday and play against the Waterford Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th.
Last Tuesday, Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP lost to Sacramento Country Day on the road by a decisive 54-35 margin. While losing is never fun, Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1284th, while Sacramento Country Day is ranked 518th).
Meanwhile, Waterford was able to grind out a solid win over Vanguard College Prep on Tuesday, taking the game 47-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Waterford.
Christian Gayle was the offensive standout of the game as he scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Hernandez, who scored seven points.
Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.5 points per game. As for Waterford, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP was taken down by Waterford 60-31 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP, Jose Hernandez (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
