Softball Game Preview: Port Aransas Marlins vs. Kenedy Lions

Port Aransas has gone 6-1 against Kenedy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Port Aransas Marlins will head out to face off against the Kenedy Lions at 6:00 p.m. Port Aransas has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Port Aransas fell victim to Skidmore-Tynan and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to the Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Marlins have suffered against the Bobcats since March 4, 2021.

Meanwhile, Kenedy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 17-16 W against the Wildcats. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Port Aransas and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Kenedy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5-1.

Port Aransas came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenedy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Aransas since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
