Softball Recap: Owego Free Academy's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

Owego Free Academy fell victim to Susquehanna Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sabers. The loss continues a trend for the River Hawks in their meetings with the Sabers: they've now lost four in a row.

Carsten Crawford put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Owego Free Academy fell to 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owego Free Academy will host Chenango Forks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Susquehanna Valley, they will take on Windsor Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sabers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Knights have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
