Baseball Recap: Arroyo Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gabrielino, Arroyo was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the El Monte Lions get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Noah Fonseca, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Romeo Arevalo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Arroyo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Arroyo now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for El Monte, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arroyo will face off against Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.88 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for El Monte, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gabrielino at 3:15 p.m. on the 28th.
