Softball Recap: Bathgate Comes Up Short

Bathgate entered their game against South Bronx on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bulldogs came up short against the Phoenix, falling 27-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since May 17, 2024.

Emelyn Butten Sanchez was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Butten Sanchez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Wesley Holmes Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-2. As for South Bronx, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
