Baseball Recap: Corner Canyon Takes a Loss

Corner Canyon had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 11-10 to make it four. They came up short against the American Fork Cavemen, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chargers have suffered since April 3rd.

Corner Canyon handed starting duties to Maddux Florence, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The Chargers are 4-2 when Florence allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

As for American Fork, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-8. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On American Fork's side, Talon Willardson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Willardson a new career-high. River Litke was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

While Corner Canyon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
