Basketball Recap: Jay Comes Up Short

Jay lost to Baker back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Royals took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Jay still got an impressive performance from Tanner Mandell, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards. The matchup was Mandell's 17th in a row with at least 15 points. Nolan Lowery was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Peyton Ellis was a one-man wrecking crewfor Baker as he dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ellis a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Cole Hardin, who shot 42% from the field en route to 13 points and five boards.

Jay's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Baker, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Jay has already played their next game, a 55-49 defeat against Central on the 23rd. As for Baker, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-54 loss against Crestview on the 26th.
