Baseball Recap: Smoky Hill Comes Up Short

Smoky Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 8-4 to the Doherty Spartans.

Smoky Hill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Goodrich, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Anwyl Gutierrez-Trujillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Smoky Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Doherty, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Smoky Hill will venture away from home to square off against Douglas County at 4:15 p.m. on the 12th. As for Doherty, they will welcome Pine Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
