Softball Game Preview: Mayfield Trojans vs. Alamogordo Tigers

Mayfield is 0-10 against Alamogordo since March of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Trojans will welcome the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mayfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked first at the time (Mayfield was ranked third). The Trojans came up short against the Hawks on Thursday, falling 13-3. The Trojans just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Alamogordo and Organ Mountain, and Organ Mountain kept the tradition alive. The Tigers lost 11-3 to the Knights on Thursday.

Alamogordo's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Mayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.

Mayfield couldn't quite get it done against Alamogordo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-10. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
