Football Recap: Brownwood Comes Up Short

Brownwood lost against La Vega back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions came up short against the Pirates, falling 38-16. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Pirates are ranked 80th).

La Vega's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kourtney Parr, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes. What's more, Parr racked up 140.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Jabarie Thornton was in the mix as well, providing La Vega with two TDs.

Brownwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for La Vega, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Brownwood will square off against China Spring at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for La Vega, they will challenge Stephenville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
