Basketball Recap: Keller Central Takes a Loss

Keller Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Byron Nelson Bobcat, falling 64-42. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 699th, while the Bobcat are ranked 60th).

When it comes to explaining why Keller Central lost, don't look at Amanda Mcnary. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points along with eight boards and three steals. Those 14 points gave Mcnary a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addi Nicholas, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Keller Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. They pulled down 11 more offensive rebounds than Byron Nelson's also-impressive total of 11.

Byron Nelson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Belle Ratliff led the charge by dropping a double-double with 24 points and 13 boards. Berkley Smith was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Keller Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-22. As for Byron Nelson, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season.

Keller Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Byron Nelson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-46 defeat against Mansfield Legacy on the 10th.
