Basketball Recap: Iowa Colony Pioneers vs. Stafford Spartans
The Iowa Colony Pioneers waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They secured a 54-48 W over Stafford. The win was all the more spectacular given Iowa Colony's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Spartans are ranked 143rd).
It was another big night for BJ Gill, who scored 26 points along with eight steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylen Dalcour, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks.
Iowa Colony is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-14 record this season. As for Stafford, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-6.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Columbia the next time they take the court. Stafford will host Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Iowa Colony will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
