Football Recap: Belleville East Wins Going Away Against Capital City

Belleville East won against Belleville West last Friday with 27 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Lancers strolled past the Capital City Cavaliers with points to spare, taking the game 27-10. The Lancers pushed the score to 27-3 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cavaliers cut but never quite recovered from.

Josh Ware was his usual excellent self, rushing for 102 yards and two TDs on only ten carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jaedon Beamon was another key back, rushing for 84 yards and one score.

Capital City's loss came despite strong showings from Jaylen Thomas and Jaqures Richardson. Thomas rushed for 129 yards, while Richardson gained 59 total yards and a touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Belleville East and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 24 points in those games. As for Capital City, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Belleville East and Capital City are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lancers will challenge West Aurora at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Capital City, they will take on Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
