Basketball Recap: Samuell Takes a Loss

Samuell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 72-8 loss at the hands of the North Mesquite Stallions. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-2.

North Mesquite found their leader in freshman Syniyah Grigsby, who almost dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals. Grigsby's evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Gabriella Grigsby was another key player, going 8 of 15 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and six steals.

Samuell's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for North Mesquite, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-13.

Samuell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-8 loss against Wilson on the 24th. As for North Mesquite, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-40 defeat against Poteet on the 24th.
