Football Preview: Independence Knights vs. Memorial Warriors
Independence has played every game this season on their home field, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. They will head out to challenge the Memorial Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Independence will be strutting in after a win while Memorial will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with six losses in a row dating back to last season, Independence finally turned things around against Denison on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Logan Murindagomo was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 80 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.
Another reason for the win was Independence's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Gianni Giacoman and Tyler Humphrey who racked up all five sacks between them.
