Softball Game Preview: Aptos Mariners vs. Monterey Dores

Aptos hasn't had much luck against Monterey recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mariners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dores at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Aptos is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Monte Vista Christian a 10-0 shutout.

The team relied heavily on Angie Lopez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwen Vaca, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monterey had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over North Salinas on Tuesday. The Dores haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Denae Lee was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Khloe Deese, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
