Basketball Recap: South Granville Comes Up Short

South Granville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 57-41 to the Carrboro Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-26 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why South Granville lost, don't look at Alayah Flowers. Despite the final result, she posted 24 points. That was a full 58.5% of South Granville's points, marking the third time in a row Flowers has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Avery Wilson, who earned eight points.

Summer Lee continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Carrboro, shooting 7-for-12 from deep and dropping a double-double with 33 points and 15 rebounds. Lee is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Yazmin Paisant was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 15 boards.

South Granville's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Carrboro, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

South Granville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-18 victory against Granville Central on the 14th. As for Carrboro, they have also already played their next contest, a 58-16 win against Durham School of the Arts on the 14th.
