Softball Recap: Oaks Christian Beats Royal for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Oaks Christian waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Royal Highlanders by a score of 6-2. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Highlanders, too.

Sophia Debs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Giabella Otani, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Gianna Garcia was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Oaks Christian's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Royal, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-8 record.

Oaks Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-4 win against Stockdale on the 26th. As for Royal, they will take on Camarillo at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Highlanders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
