Softball Recap: Zephyrhills Comes Up Short

Zephyrhills scored first but ultimately less than Auburn Riverside in their game on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 6-5.

Melanie Moreno made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Rivera, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Zephyrhills has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season. As for Auburn Riverside, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Coming up, Zephyrhills will head out to challenge Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulls will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Auburn Riverside, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-0 loss against Sunlake on the 10th.
