Softball Recap: Vallejo Has No Trouble Against Richmond

Vallejo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Richmond, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vallejo Redhawks put the hurt on the Richmond Oilers with a sharp 20-8 win on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Amayah Davis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Dreah Bernstine, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Davis wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Vallejo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Vallejo now has a winning record of 2-1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vallejo will face off against El Cerrito at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vallejo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.8 runs per game this season. As for Richmond, they will challenge Hercules at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Richmond has now lost 11 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 19th.
