Baseball Recap: Somerset Academy Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Somerset Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 3, 2025.

Ryan Hernandez tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over six innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Kenhan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Alan Sanchez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Somerset Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Somerset Academy will take on Cardinal Gibbons at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will challenge Western at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
