The Mitchell County Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mitchell County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
Mitchell County posted their biggest win since December 8, 2023 on Saturday. They put the hurt on Pelham with a sharp 66-44 win. Given Mitchell County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Pelham is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Pataula Charter Academy came up short against Early County on Wednesday and fell 53-46. Pataula Charter Academy has not had much luck with Early County recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Mitchell County's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Pataula Charter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Everything came up roses for Mitchell County against Pataula Charter Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 72-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mitchell County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
