Basketball Recap: Mayde Creek Rams vs. Morton Ranch Mavericks
The Mayde Creek Rams can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 76-63 victory over Morton Ranch. The victory was just what Mayde Creek needed coming off of a 91-70 loss in their prior matchup.
Leading Mayde Creek to victory were Bryan Hightower and Christian Gibson. Hightower went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 0 assists, while Gibson scored 32 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That makes it six consecutive games in which Gibson has scored at least a third of Mayde Creek's points. Another player making a difference was Edwin Cleveland, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Mayde Creek's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-20. As for Morton Ranch, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 18 of their last 20 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-24 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Jordan the next time they take the court. Morton Ranch will host Jordan at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Mayde Creek will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
