League recap: Clairton tops Brentwood to extend winning streak

WPIAL A Black Hills recap Oct. 9, 2012

Clairton extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL A Black Hills this week by beating Brentwood, 45-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Bears.

Clairton took down the Spartans 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Imani Christian Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Khari Hicks threw for 225 yards and Eric Scott had 130 yards receiving. On the ground Ron Brown chipped in 170 yards. Brendan Edwards helped Imani Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching four balls for 85 yards.

Imani Christian Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Saints feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hicks has thrown for 1420 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Scott has 32 catches for 587 yards. Brown leads the league in rushing with 715 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Canevin Catholic takes on Tom Nola's team. At the moment, the Crusaders are in fourth, while the Bears are in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Canevin Catholic takes on Clairton. Bob Jacoby's team has allowed 61 points this season, while the Bears have given up 40. The Crusaders allowed 9 points last week as they beat Fort Cherry.

Chartiers-Houston made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,901 from 5,391. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 36-16 victory over Carlynton last week.
