Basketball Recap: Pike County Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Pike County and Straughn squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Pike County had to settle for second. They came up short against the Straughn Tigers, falling 66-41. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Straughn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Presley Bates out in front who posted 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Blakeley Smith, who earned 20 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Pike County's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Straughn, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5.

Pike County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Straughn, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-42 win against New Brockton on the 4th.
