Volleyball Recap: Durham Academy Now 10-3 over Last 13 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Durham Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They skirted past the Cary Academy Chargers 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Durham Academy who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-12, 24-26, 15-12.

Durham Academy found their leader in freshman Alice Chen, who had 11 digs and eight aces. Chen has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 16 times she's played. Naomi Adigun also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Durham Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.

Durham Academy has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Cary Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Durham Academy will venture away from home to challenge Charlotte Country Day School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cary Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
