Football Recap: Sumter County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last six games, Sumter County finally came back down to earth on Friday. They and the Carver Tigers were almost perfectly matched up, but the Panthers suffered an 8-7 loss. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Leading Carver to victory were Zach Watts and Marte Sears. Watts rushed for 126 yards on only 15 carries, while Sears picked up 88 receiving yards and one score. Those 126 rushing yards gave Watts a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sumter County fell to 7-1. As for Carver, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Sumter County and Carver will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Panthers see the field they'll take on Hardaway at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Carver, their break will end when they face Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
