County Line is 0-10 against Scranton since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The County Line Indians will be playing at home against the Scranton Rockets at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
County Line's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Mulberry with a sharp 26-0 victory. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Virginia Besier made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tavilynn Fortenberry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Joshi Brown was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
County Line always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .865. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Scranton got the win against Sacred Heart on Thursday by a conclusive 15-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
Like County Line, Scranton also got a great game from a two-way player: DeLaney Mainer (2026). On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Mainer (2026) was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Mackenzie Croft (2028) was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Marrissa Layes (2026), who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
County Line's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Scranton, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
