Softball Recap: Dixon's Loss Ends 14-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Dixon dropped their record down to 10-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's 14-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They came up short against the Pioneer Patriots, falling 11-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Dixon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachael Cayabyab, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As for Pioneer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

On Pioneer's side, Jia Beebe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Beebe has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sofia Hernandez was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Marisa Bryson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Looking ahead, Dixon will welcome Rodriguez at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pioneer, they will venture away from home to challenge Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Zebras have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.06 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
