Softball Recap: St. Joseph Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

While St. Joseph put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Mainland Regional. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Mustangs. The Wildcats have beaten the Mustangs the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.

Elaina Portalatin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Genevieve Muhaw, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Kaylin Marshall also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

St. Joseph's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mainland Regional, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
