Basketball Recap: Almeta Crawford Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Almeta Crawford couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 65-64 to the Washington Eagles. The Chargers' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Almeta Crawford saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alvin Mosley dropped a double-double with 27 points and ten boards. The match was Mosley's fourth in a row with at least 27 points. Bryce Vann was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

It was another big night for Samuel Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards for Washington. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Greg Moore, who went 7-for-16 en route to 16 points.

Almeta Crawford's loss dropped their record down to 28-8. As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-4 record this season.

Almeta Crawford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Washington, they will challenge Stafford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stafford will roll in looking for their 37th straight win, something Washington surely won't give up without a fight.
