Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, Cedar Valley will face off against Maple Mountain. The Aviators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Cedar Valley came up short against Maple Mountain and fell 6-2. The Aviators have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Maple Mountain's part, Kavyn Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Carter.

On the hitting side, Cole Erickson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Maple Mountain, bringing their record up to 13-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Valley, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-7.
