Baseball Game Preview: Poplarville Hornets vs. Moss Point Tigers

For the second straight game, Poplarville will face off against Moss Point. The Hornets will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Tigers at 12:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Poplarville has six straight victories, Moss Point has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ty Keys made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jeremiah Moss was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Brock Sheppard was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Poplarville pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Moss Point, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
