Basketball Recap: Leake Academy Falls to Madison-Ridgeland Academy in First Game of Season

Leake Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 48-43 to the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots on Monday. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Leake Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Allen, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Boykin, who posted ten points along with seven boards and three blocks.

Looking ahead, Leake Academy will square off against Jackson Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tishomingo County at 1:00 p.m. on November 8.
