Recap: Coolidge Colts vs. Cardozo Clerks
The Coolidge Colts scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Cardozo for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-6 victory on the road. That 68 points margin sets a new team best for Coolidge this season.
Coolidge was led to victory by Jaylyn Derricott and Josslyn Derricott. Derricott scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, while Derricott dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Derricott is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games she's played. Tairyn Walker was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Coolidge's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8. As for Cardozo, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coolidge will take on Anacostia at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Anacostia is ranked ninth, while Coolidge is ranked seventh). As for Cardozo, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Jackson-Reed at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Jackson-Reed focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Wednesday.
