Baseball Recap: Harpeth's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Harpeth waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Cheatham County Central Cubs. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Coleman Sparkman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sparkman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Chance Ford and Aaron Higgs did most of the damage at the plate: Ford scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Higgs went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Ford a new career-high.

Harpeth's record is now 13-8. As for Cheatham County Central, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harpeth will take on Camden Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cheatham County Central, they will square off against Hunters Lane at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.64 runs per game on average), something the Cubs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
