Recap: Holy Cross Knights vs. Brentwood Christian Bears

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Incarnate Word Academy, the Holy Cross Knights were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Brentwood Christian by a score of 50-40. That's another feather in the cap for Holy Cross, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Holy Cross' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kiandra Cirlos led the charge by scoring 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cirlos has scored at least a third of Holy Cross' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Garcia, who scored 14 points.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Tolliver, who scored 17 points along with three steals. That was a full 42.5% of Brentwood Christian's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zaniah Williams, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.

Holy Cross pushed their record up to 18-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Brentwood Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-15 record this season.

Holy Cross didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-51 victory vs. Hill Country Christian School of Austin on the 9th. Brentwood Christian has also already played their next match, a 42-37 loss against John Paul II on the 9th.
