Basketball Recap: Hickory Christian Academy Drops Season-High Score on Lake Lure Classical Academy

Hickory Christian Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 43-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors. The Knights' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Hickory Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cece Dechellis dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dechellis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Burns, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hickory Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Lake Lure Classical Academy found their leader in sophomore Landry Mize, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 18 points and three steals. Mize has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gynnifer Dorn, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Hickory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.

Hickory Christian Academy will challenge Statesville Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-39 victory against Pinnacle Classical Academy on the 7th.
