Basketball Recap: Gates County Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Gates County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the Martin County Gators with a sharp 66-43 victory on Tuesday. The Red Barons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Gates County to victory were London Barber and Zoey Nowell. Barber posted 21 points in addition to seven boards and five assists, while Nowell almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Nowell is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last ten games she's played. Zebriya Woodley was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Gates County's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.9 points. As for Martin County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

Coincidentally, Gates County and Martin County will both be playing Washington County the next time they take the court. Martin County will host Washington County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Gates County will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
