Softball Game Preview: Nuview Bridge Knights vs. California Lutheran C-Hawks

Nuview Bridge has gone 7-1 against California Lutheran recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Nuview Bridge Knights will face off against the California Lutheran C-Hawks at 3:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Nuview Bridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Temecula Prep, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Nuview Bridge's way against Temecula Prep on Friday as Nuview Bridge made off with a 33-10 win. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Breanna Pacheco and Vanessa Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Pacheco scored three runs and stole eight bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances, while Taylor scored six runs and stole six bases while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave Taylor a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Miranda, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Nuview Bridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Temecula Prep only managed nine hits.

Meanwhile, everything went California Lutheran's way against Calvary Baptist on Thursday as California Lutheran made off with an 18-3 victory. The C-Hawks have beaten the Cougars the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.

Cailin Schroeder made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, California Lutheran got a massive performance out of Sofia Klochkova, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Emily French, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.

Nuview Bridge's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1. As for California Lutheran, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Nuview Bridge might still be hurting after the 17-7 loss they got from California Lutheran in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Nuview Bridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
