Preview: Webber Trojans vs. Herrin Tigers
Webber has been on the road for six straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Herrin Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Webber will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 657th, while Herrin is ranked 181st).
Last Saturday, Webber ended up a good deal behind Meridian and lost 50-31. Webber has not had much luck with Meridian recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Webber saw an underclassman step up: Chloe King scored 14 points. That was a full 45.2% of Webber's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadi Bain, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Herrin slipped by Benton 41-40 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Herrin.
Webber's defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-16. As for Herrin, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
