Soccer Recap: Great Bridge Takes a Loss

After flying high against Indian River on Tuesday, Great Bridge came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Kempsville Chiefs by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. Great Bridge were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kempsville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Audrey Orrock and Addison Mawyer scored all three of Great Bridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 23 goals.

Great Bridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Kempsville, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Great Bridge will host King's Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Great Bridge will be up against King's Fork's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.83 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Kempsville, they will be playing at home against First Colonial at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Kempsville's defense better be ready for this one: First Colonial have averaged an impressive 3.6 goals per game this season.
