Baseball Recap: Beechwood Comes Up Short

Beechwood fell victim to St. Xavier and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of St. Xavier by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for Beechwood seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Brant Stiles was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Beechwood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Fryman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Fryman has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Beechwood's loss dropped their record down to 23-10-1. As for St. Xavier, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season.

Beechwood will challenge Holmes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Xavier, they will take on North Bullitt at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
