Softball Recap: Bartlett's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Bartlett came into Wednesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the North Polar Bears with a sharp 15-2 win on Wednesday. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Dakota Vaudreuil was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bartlett got a massive performance out of Taryn Gerber, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those stolen bases were Gerber's first of the season. Hope Cooper was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Bartlett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for North, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Bartlett will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tantasqua Regional at 3:30 p.m. on the 28th. As for North, they will challenge Worcester Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
