Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln-Way East). Everything went their way against the Newton Eagles on Thursday as the Lincoln-Way East Griffins made off with a 69-45 win. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Eagles are ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

With the victory, Lincoln-Way East broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-4. As for Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
