South Plaquemines has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the French Settlement Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After a 15-7 finish the last time they played, South Plaquemines and West Jefferson decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. South Plaquemines' pitcher stepped up to hand West Jefferson a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory was just what South Plaquemines needed coming off of an 11-0 defeat in their prior game.
Dean Ancalade was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, French Settlement was able to grind out a solid win over Northlake Christian on Wednesday, taking the game 6-1.
South Plaquemines' victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for French Settlement, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12.
