Baseball Game Preview: Burke Bengals vs. The Heights

The Burke Bengals will venture away from home to face off against The Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Burke came up short against School Without Walls and fell 7-4.

Max Gruber made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Sam Hutt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, The Heights came up short against Our Lady of Good Counsel on Wednesday, falling 10-1. The Heights has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The Heights saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Detleff, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. That hit marked the first that Detleff got this season.

The Heights' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Burke, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Burke might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from The Heights in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Burke avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
