Preview: Cypress Creek Coyotes vs. Pasco Pirates
The Cypress Creek Coyotes will head out on the road to square off against the Pasco Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cypress Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Cypress Creek was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to Wiregrass Ranch. Cypress Creek has struggled against Wiregrass Ranch recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaitlyn Pendleton, who scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carinne Washington, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Pasco's nine-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end back in December of 2023. They enjoyed a cozy 39-24 win over Oasis Christian. The victory was just what Pasco needed coming off of a 64-17 defeat in their prior matchup.
Angel Cowart continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Natalia Rosales was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Cypress Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Pasco, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-8.
Cypress Creek took their win against Pasco in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 49-23. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cypress Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
