Preview: Hersey Huskies vs. Elk Grove Grenadiers
Hersey is 7-0 against Elk Grove since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hersey Huskies will be playing at home against the Elk Grove Grenadiers at 7:00 p.m. Hersey will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Hersey at home against Wheeling as the team secured a 52-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Hersey, who have now won seven contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Carson Grove continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 228 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Colton Gumino was another key contributor, throwing for 228 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Elk Grove didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Rolling Meadows on Friday, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win.
Daryl Hunt was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Hunt's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
Their wins bumped Hersey to 8-0 and Elk Grove to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' contest: Hersey has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 189.1 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Elk Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 88.9 per game. How will Elk Grove fare against such a dominant running game?
