Preview: Whittier Christian Heralds vs. South Hills Huskies

The Whittier Christian Heralds will head out on the road to face off against the South Hills Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whittier Christian will be strutting in after a win while South Hills will be coming in after a defeat.

Even though Compton scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Whittier Christian still came out on top. Whittier Christian walked away with a 67-56 win over Compton. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 23 to 12 on the offensive boards, as Whittier Christian did.

It was another big night for Leland Carrido, who scored 27 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Whittier Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Godinez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, South Hills came up short against Lakeside on Saturday and fell 58-47. South Hills has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The losses dropped Whittier Christian to 4-5 and Compton to 1-3-1.

Whittier Christian came up short against South Hills when the teams last played back in November, falling 36-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of South Hills' Andy Barajas, who scored 21 points. Now that Whittier Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
